05/22/2013– Do I have to buy a wig for my Vocaloid Cosplay

I know many cosplayers when they do Vocaloid Cosplay ; they always buy wigs and costumes. I am thinking about it now. Do I have to buy a wig for my Vocaloid Cosplay?
I'm going back to my Akita Neru from Vocaloid Cosplay...as well as Megurine Luka...but as for Neru; do I have to have a wig? I plan for this to be a very good Cosplay, but wigs are always my problem since I make my Vocaloid Cosplay Costumes .

I have found a few good wigs with clip-on ponytails, but what if I just used my own hair? I have golden, kind of dirty blonde hair, very curly. Probably needs some dye. I'll straighten it and put it up in a side ponytail, and after being put up, it reaches to about an inch below my shoulder...shorter then Neru's hair. But would this work? Or if you saw someone doing this, would you think, "Sheesh, get a wig, girl." lol.
You do not /have/ to have a wig if you believe that you can do it with your natural hair. I know for a fact a number of cosplayers’ use their natural hair, and no one complains about it. Your hair however, is significantly shorter than Neru's and if you feel that it's an issue I would get a wig. Otherwise, just use your natural hair. It's easier and much cheaper than buying a wig. I know for a fact that if I could use my natural hair in most of my Cosplay I would.

For your hair, you'd only need to put a bow and some clips in, and I've seen some good tutorials on deviant ART about how to make her bow... And, also, some of her outfits are really simple to make/buy anywhere.
If you want to use a wig, two things you should notice. 1. You should probably read in depth about proper wig care so that you don't ruin the wig. It's really easy to fry a wig, since they don't follow the same rules as human hair. And 2. Don't get a yellow wig. Blonde or a natural-looking yellow-blonde is okay, but yellow wigs are harsh on the eyes and flaws in them are more obvious. Yellow wigs also always have a very plastic-y shine, even if they're made out of Kanekalon (the best fiber out there).

In my mind, Vocaloid Cosplay is the greatest Anime Cosplay . Every preparing is worth for a wonderful Vocaloid Cosplay.
